Built like a fortress!! Apparently

Mr H of the Great Lake contracted IPI to inspect his fishing shack he just put an offer on. IPI noticed many anomalies throughout and recommended an electrical inspection by a qualified Electrician. The power was not connected at the time of the IPI inspection. Mr H decided not the have the electrical system inspected. The following summer the shack burnt to the ground and was uninsured.

Mr A of Hobart told us he would get the inspection but didn't need it as the house was built like a fortress!! Mr A of Hobart was buying this property to retire in and signed a contract on a solid brick home with suspended concrete floors and they failed to look under the house.

IPI found significant differential movement in the top of the rear and side walls along with quite a serious moisture problem from the rear wall not being properly waterproofed prior to backfilling against it with soil.

The result of the movement was a 30mm crack to the rear wall, which in all probability could not be repaired satisfactorily due to the location of the problem.

The result is a problem that now Mr A hasn't bought the property, someone else may if they fail to see the problem or get and IPI inspection.

The cost of rectifying this problem would be incalculable against the $360.00 for the IPI Pre-Purchase inspection.
